I think the majority of us have experienced having some form of a cold or virus over the winter months at some point or another
But, what if we could help to avoid it?
…well you can!
‘Get Enough Sleep’
One study found that, compared to people sleeping 8 hours per night, those sleeping 7 hours were nearly 3 times more likely to get a cold
Not only that, but when looking at sleep efficiency (the proportion of time in bed spent actually sleeping), those with 92% efficiency were nearly 6 times more likely to get a cold than those with 98% efficiency!
This difference remained when other confounding factors were accounted for, too
It’s really difficult to overstate how important sleep is, not just to your immune function, but to your productivity, training recovery, appetite and ability to learn new things
If you’re going to spend time getting anything optimised, make it this!
Yes its hard, work, kids, time is a limited resource for us all, but if you can find a way to get more sleep, to get better quality sleep, the effect on your health and longevity could be profound
