Dave’s Journey

From the moment Dave joined UHF, he brought incredible energy and commitment to his training journey.

His story is one of resilience, growth, and community. We’re thrilled to be part of his transformation and can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

Here’s what he has to say about his experience 👇

“My name is Dave, I’m 40 years old (soon to be +1), and I have been part of the amazing UHF since the beginning of January 2024.

I live a busy life, married with three young children (all girls between the ages of 7 and 10) and a full-time job.

Before UHF, I’d been training in a gym environment for about 15 years, mostly in group classes like Les Mills, HIIT, and Spin, which I enjoyed.

Five years ago, just before COVID, I started lifting weights and focusing more on strength training.

But along the way, I found myself dealing with a string of injuries, shoulder impingement, a bulged disc, and tennis elbow. that left me frustrated and eventually led me to give up on the gym.

Looking back, I realize it was more that I didn’t know how to ask for help or the right guidance to work around these setbacks.

After a few months of doing very little and feeling the toll it took on me both physically and mentally, I knew I needed to make a change.

Friends who had trained at UHF for years kept telling me about the facilities, the environment, and the people, and they were convinced I’d love it. So, I reached out to Chris, shared my history, and talked through my concerns.

From that first conversation, I was 100% in. Chris listened to everything I had to say and made me feel confident that UHF was exactly what I needed. Since my first training session, I haven’t looked back and I especially look forward to the infamous Sweat Saturday!

The coaches Chris, Hannah, Danielle, John, and Baz are exceptional. Their support has been second to none and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned (and keep learning) from them.

Beyond the training, you get to work out with some of the most amazing people. We push each other hard but also have the biggest laughs, and the community is a huge reason I’m always excited for the next session.

Looking at what I’ve achieved so far, I’m genuinely proud.

My main goal this year was to stay injury-free, maybe lose some weight, and feel better about myself.

I’ve managed all of that and more. I even took part in a Turf Games competition, which was an incredible experience.

I’d never have done without UHF, for that, I’m so grateful ❤️

I’ve also started running, which might shock those who know me—I used to hate the idea of running!

Now, I’m running 5-10k and actually enjoying it.

So what’s next?

I plan to keep training as I am and have set my sights on more competitions. I’ve got a Deka Strong competition in December, where I’ll be partnering up with Chris, and I’ll be taking on the Deadly Dozen next September. I’m even considering adding a Hyrox or another Turf Games to the list, but all in good time.

Joining UHF has transformed my approach to training and given me a renewed sense of confidence.

I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.”
